Welcome!
Welcome to Baseball Examiner! Baseball Examiner was created to do exactly
that…examine the sport of baseball. We’ll cover any and all aspects of the
baseball industry. Or at least as much as we can handle at one time.
At BaseballExaminer.com we will examine the minor league systems of each organization. We will examine
some of the nation’s top amateurs as the June Draft approaches. We’ll even
discuss what is going on in the Major Leagues! But our emphasis will revolve
around the game’s most intriguing minor league prospects before they reach the
top level.
The only thing about baseball that is more exhilarating than following the Major
Leagues is tracking the progress of future major leaguers as they ascend to the
peak. It’s invigorating to know that when a young major leaguer becomes a
star, we can say that we saw it coming years ago.
Sometimes a player fulfills his expectation. Sometimes he falls flat on his
face. And other times we’re surprised to find that certain players became much
better than we ever expected. The only thing about prospects that is for certain
is that it is an uncertainty. (Hence, Oxford’s definition: pros-pect n.
1 a an expectation of success in a career. b something one has to
look forward to.) It’s the expectation of what might happen in the future that
makes prospect watching so exciting.
Join us as we journey through this endeavor together. This off-season we’ll
take a look at the top minor league prospects at each position. We will offer
plenty of other thoughts, analysis and debates as well.
As we get settled in and look for ways to grow, our goal will be to let you, the
reader, play an increased role at BaseballExaminer.com.
Stay tuned for future progress that may allow you the platform to share your
thoughts and analysis.
We aren’t as established, resourceful and developed as the guys at Baseball
America and Baseball
Prospectus, but there was a time when they were less advanced than we
are now.
So plan to visit Baseball Examiner often for regular updates
and fresh material. Then strap yourself in and take a deep breath, for this is
going to be a fun ride.
