This is how we would set our starting lineups for the Futures Game. We also list the order we would project to use our pitchers. Of course, come late in the game the managers are likely to bring in several pitchers to face one or two batters so that many of them can get some action. But this is the blueprint that we would use.

Here are our takes on some of the players:

Jeremy Hermida  (Phil) I bat him leadoff because of  his OBP with good speed. (Chuck) He also swings the bat like a natural so I hit him 3rd.

B.J. Upton  (Phil) He's a 20-year old in Triple-A...errors? What errors?  (Chuck) Don't worry about his errors, he's still a future star.

Conor Jackson  (Chuck) Tremendous plate discipline with .300+ average puts him second in my lineup. (Phil) He's an on-base machine, but a base clogger shouldn't bat near the top of the order.

Delmon Young  (Phil) Monster! What else can I say? (Chuck) Not much. How about Hall-of-Famer?

Andy LaRoche (Phil) Showing awesome power!

Brandon Wood  (Chuck) Normally a shortstop, but mashing like a DH.

Daric Barton  (Phil) DH might be his future major league position.

Lastings Milledge  (Chuck) Great all-round tools; combination of power and speed. (Phil) Just don't let him steal! (caught 13 times in 31 attempts)

Justin Verlander (Phil) Most dominating pitcher on the U.S. roster.

Thomas Diamond  (Chuck) A workhorse with makeup & maturity to get the ball first.

Joel Zumaya  (Chuck) Projected as future reliever, I give him the chance to set up.

James Johnson  (Chuck) Who's James Johnson?

Javier Herrera  (Phil) Very good OBP and good speed.

Hanley Ramirez  (Chuck) Playmaker.

Russ Martin  (Phil) Good OBP and won't be a killer on the base paths.

Nelson Cruz  (Phil) Mashing again.

Edwin Encarnacion  (Chuck) Has Joe Randa been traded yet?

Luis Montanez  (Phil) Always had talent, now starting to use it.

Merkin Valdez  (Chuck) Been in the Futures Game before, I let his experience start things off.

Anibal Sanchez  (Phil) Probably the best pitcher on the World roster. (Chuck) Is having a huge breakout season.

Yusmeiro Petit  (Chuck) Soft-tosser, but effective.

Francisco Liriano  (Chuck) Best lefthander on the World roster.

Fausto Carmona  (Chuck) Best potential closer on World roster.

Adam Loewen  (Chuck) Not having great season, but scouts still like his stuff.

OUTCOME  (Phil) It appears to me that the U.S. roster is more talented than the World roster. USA 5 World 3. (Chuck) The quality pitching staffs are a wash, but the big difference is in the outfield where the World can't compare. USA 3 World 2.
