We have a winner!

Mel has beaten Baseball Examiner! He was the only participant to do so. He was off by 16 wins fewer than Chuck. Congratulations, Mel! You have won your choice of a Baseball America 2005 Almanac or the Baseball America 2006 Prospect Handbook.

Eric was the leader going into the final month of the season, leading Mel by 14. Arizona's strong finish cost Eric a 10-point swing in Mel's favor.

Seven entries predicted a team's win total exactly (Alex and Chuck picking 95 wins for the Red Sox, Phil and Matt picking 74 wins for Baltimore, Mel picked 67 wins for Tampa Bay, Chuck had Oakland pegged for 88, and Phil nailed the Brewers for a surprising 81.)

Though he didn't score among the top entries, Alex was closest to 9 teams, more than any other entry. Mel came closest for 7 teams, the next highest total. Though he was in the running to the very end, Eric was closest to only 4 teams, fewest of all.
