It's
very, very early. Therefore, many of the projections are greatly skewed. But
some teams have had a fast start, a slow start, been a surprise or a
disappointment which has favored certain entries and caused others turmoil.
Fast starts & surprises
Baltimore's fast start most favors
Dwaine, with Alex a close
second, and most hurts Matt,
Phil and
Chuck.
Toronto's surprise start favors Matt
and most hurts Alex and
Dwaine.
The fast start by the White Sox most favors
Alex and most hurts Dwaine.
Washington's early surprise most favors
Mel and most hurts Matt
and Alex.
The Cardinals' hot
start most favors Alex and most
hurts Dwaine.
The Dodgers' hot start
most favors Alex and most hurts
Matt.
The surprise start by the
Diamondbacks most favors Mel and
most hurts Alex.
Slow starts & disappointments
The pathetic display of the
Yankees most favors Mel and
most hurts Alex.
Cleveland's slow start
most favors Matt and least favors
Phil, Mel
and Eric.
The Cubs' slow start
most favors Phil and most hurts just
about everybody else.
Houston's slow start
most favors Chuck.
Colorado's sluggish
start most favors Dwaine and
Chuck.
To best read the chart below, observe
a team's projected win total in the 5/3 column (each team's
projected in total based on games played through May 3) and compare with your
prediction. The difference is the number of wins off you are for that team.
For example, based on games played
through May 3, Baltimore is on pace to win 106 games. Dwaine's prediction of 87
is the closest, but he's still off by 19. Add up how many wins you are off for
all 30 teams, and you have your score.
The AL East has been a
disaster for all of us. We combine for an average of 20.4 wins
off per team. The AL West has been kind. As a group we average
only 7.0 wins
off per team.
There is plenty that will change as the season progresses, but at this point
NO ONE is beating Baseball Examiner. The
numbers are very high at this early stage, but as the projections start taking
form, we'll see our numbers drop.
